I do not create photographs to please men, women, or anyone else.
The audience I imagine is myself.
Whether or not others find my work pleasurable is not my concern.
I reject the notion of being passive and subordinate based on gender and instead assert my dominance as an active and self-directed creator.
I am no longer just playing the role of the passive, submissive female subject being observed.

Sharol Xiao - 小小
從事自拍攝影、表演、繪畫、寫作。
現居台北，熱衷於BDSM與Kinky文化，曾經歷殯葬業、動物重症醫院護理等工作，於表演者與模特兒工作意識到“藝術與慾望”是密不可分的，開始思考“人生與情感”。從那時起，她就一直拿著膠卷相機和腳架拍攝自己。
她的作品展示了她對人性感性思維的真實直視與她對生命的深刻理解和敏銳觀察力、探索人和宇宙、社會的關係，強調和諧的重要與美好。
2020年起她開始創作錄像作品。至今發行三本攝影集，與數本小誌，曾於曼谷、東京、紐約、京都、台北舉行個展。
「活著不只是有呼吸，更要用力真誠地愛著這個世界」她說。
Sharol Xiao - 小小
Sharol Xiao is an artist engaged in self-portrait photography, performance, painting, and writing.
Currently based in Taipei, she is passionate about BDSM and kinky culture. Having previously worked in the funeral industry and as a veterinary nurse at an animal critical care hospital, these experiences profoundly shaped her perspective on life and emotion. While working as a performer and model, she realized the inseparable connection between “art and desire,” prompting her to reflect on “life and emotions.” Since then, she has been capturing self-portraits with a film camera and tripod.
Her works reveal an unflinching gaze into human sensuality and a profound understanding of life. With keen observational skills, she explores the relationship between humanity, the cosmos, and society, emphasizing the importance and beauty of harmony.
In 2020, she began creating video art. To date, she has published three photography books and several zines, and she has held solo exhibitions in Bangkok, Tokyo, New York, Kyoto, and Taipei.
"Living is not only about breathing, but also about loving the world with all your strength and sincerity," she said.
